Generator permitting and code compliance covers the permits, inspections, and code requirements that come with installing a standby generator – paperwork that's easy to overlook but that most jurisdictions require before a generator installation is legally complete.
We handle this as part of installations throughout Windham, ME, where local code requirements vary depending on your specific municipality – setback distances from the home, noise ordinances, fuel line requirements, and electrical permitting all differ by location. Skipping this step can mean problems down the line, whether that's an insurance issue, a problem when selling the home, or a required removal if the installation doesn't meet code.
We handle the permit application process directly, submitting what's required based on your specific jurisdiction's rules, and we coordinate the required inspections that happen during and after installation. We make sure the generator's placement meets setback and clearance requirements, the fuel line connection meets code, and the electrical work passes inspection standards. This isn't an extra step tacked onto the job – it's built into how we handle every installation from the start.
This service is typically included in the overall installation cost rather than billed separately, since it's a required part of doing the job correctly.
